Denim jacket decorated with vintage scarfs and old buttons

This oversized denim jacket I got from a friend to be used as material for my designed denim bags. Instead I felt like doing something extra bold with it; I decided to sew small pieces of vintage scarfs to make the jacket “float” and “puffy”.

I used vintage scarfs that were a little bit damaged beyond repairing  and cut same sized rectangular pieces which I then sew on the jacket. Sleeves I had to take apart otherwise I could not been able to fasten the scarfs.

By separating the colors and sewing matching ones side by side the surface is more interesting and lively. And the number of vintage scarf pieces I used to this jacket… 583 pieces.

Buttons I attached by hand and each one is carefully placed so the colors again flows easily and makes interesting surface.

handpainted red and orange leather earrings

I often paint and glue my leather parts for the earrings in advance. When I feel like it. Then I use the painted leather when my ongoing design needs it- it can take for a year or a week or just hours. Depends on the flow.

These leather parts I made one summer evening but something more important came along and I put the designs aside. Now when cleaning up my desk and the drawers I found these red and orange leather designs I knew that it was their time to shine.

The metal chain is from old bracelet that I found from charity shop and took apart. I love the way the thin chain moves, reminds me of misty mornings and spider webs in the forest.

The fabric is old IKEA curtain.

green silk/black leather/swarovski crystals earrings

Few years ago I found green silk yarn from nearby charity shop. As I was going through my material boxes, looking for a pair of shoulder pads to another project I came across this hidden green silk gem. I imagined a summer party, soft warm evening air, long chiffon dress, barefoot and these earrings with long green silk tassels.

Silk yarn was in tight bundles and curled so I needed to first soak the yarn in water and let air dry to get it straight.

My work flow when creating my earrings is unpredictable, I cannot say directly when my earrings are ready. Sometimes I leave the whole design process for weeks on my table and pick it up again when I feel like it. Here on these “green garden party” tassels I was not able to decide how the top part of the earrings would look like, first I let them to be quite minimalistic but later on decided to add more beads and some nude colored swarovski flower shaped crystals. Minimalistic was not the right feeling for these silk tassels, they needed to shine and catch every glimpse of sunlight.

I love the boldness, the movement of the silk yarn and the touch of raw arts and crafts feeling.

red lips/black leather/fringes earrings

Passion comes in many colors, luscious red lips maybe the ultimate passion statement, Hollywood glam.

Between the two oval leather parts I glued long, black fringes which I painted red from the bottom part to give the fringes more weight and structure.

Red lips are red leather

covered with mixture

of glue and red glitter.

By adding the eye over the lip made the whole design more “salvador dali” that is surrealistic. In the middle of the eye I added one semi shiny plastic bead.

Again one design process that I did not plan step by step, just went with my inner flow. And for sure not gonna repeat these bold lips again, all my designs are one-of-a-kind.

Bag made from round table coasters

Straw bag is the perfect outfit addition that just says “now it is summer, let´s go to the beach, summer markets and on holiday”

My bag is made out of two round table coasters from H&M home.

Bag is hand sewn together with thick cotton yarn, the seam was too thick to sew with sewing machine.

I made the shoulder strap out of an old suede belt and attached it with an o-ring to the sides of the bag. Round decorations and the fringe around the bag are made out of leather.  Lining is an old tablecloth with traditional pattern.

Belt buckle shoe decoration

Tired with your basic black leather ballerinas? Here is an easy solution for all of you DIY interested. I had a lot of wood belt buckles, just plain wood color. By painting the buckles with different motifs, here animal fur inspired, I got a pile of unique decorative buckles that I can now use as an interesting detail in my DIY works. Here I attached the buckles into basic leather ballerinas by first piercing the leather in the front of the shoe where I wanted the buckles to sit. I made leather fringes to make the buckles stand out.

Susanoo design tassel earrings from second hand materials

These two pairs of tassel earrings I made out of quality yarns that I always buy second hand from charity/flea markets. Here I combined other elements with the tassel earrings such as old jewelry parts and fake leather from one old belt.

I love old clip earrings and some of my handmade earrings I design in a way that it is easy to slide it into the clip earring.  In this way you can change the look of the pair of earrings easily.

The red tassel earrings metal part is from old metal bracelet which I formed into a circle to fit a red bead in.

white tassel earrings

These bespoken tassel earrings were born one hot summer morning on the balcony.

Friend of mine from Finland needed white earrings for a wedding party, she gave me free hands and there were only one guideline “20´s wedding” theme.

She was really happy with the result.

“tie” neckpiece

Neckpiece from leather and yarn. This piece was inspired by a tie, I thought about a modern tie that could be worn with a blouse like a tie. This black gently u-shaped leather neckpiece looks pretty formal worn with a shirt but can be used also with different shaped necklines.

First I draw a pattern how the neckpiece should look like when worn under collar. I used leather in the u-shaped part and decorated the edge with yarn fringes.

flower power

diy crochet fringe bag and converseThis crochet fringe bag was born in wintertime in Finland Lappland. I found second hand a box filled with untouched black cotton blend yarn rolls. I knitted and crocheted many various things out of the yarn but this bag became my favourite. In my mind I was carrying it in snowy scenery because it looked kind of winterish and warm finished but when I unpacked it in summer I realized how perfectly it even fits summertime also!

It is crocheted with a big sized hook into a rectangle piece and then folded to the shape of a bag and hand stitched together from the sides. Fringes add the hippie look and I also placed some silver colored buttons on the flap to make the bag stand out.

fringe pouch

This vintage pouch is from Stockholm. To give it more personality and to match it with the rest of my wardrobe I added some fringes and black studs.

Vintage mustan pikkulaukun löysin Tukholmasta second hand-kaupasta.

This bracelet is bended from silver wire and the ring is connected to it with a delicate chain.

mimic

Black leather with different techniques. One with fringes and the other one is odd shaped piece which I gathered together from one side and fastened it to the leather cord. Used alone it makes a statement to your outfit and even looks more dared with added jewellery on top of it.
